Check compatibility of DVD players with recordable discs: Check compatibility of DVD drives and players with DVD+R/RW: The Playstation 2 seems to be unable to play MPEG layer 2 audio correctly at less than 128 kbps. We now encode at a minimum of 128 kbps to avoid this. Xine has a bug in switching from MPEG-2 video (including menus) to MPEG-1 video (reported as Debian bug #323115.) This can be worked around by selecting titles directly with a command of the form "xine dvd:/" where <device> is the DVD device name and <title> is the title number. These are the compatibility issues I've found with discs burned using a Lite-On LDW-411S DVD recorder: - A recent iBook plays DVD+RW but not DVD-R discs. - An older Panasonic DVD player (DVD-RV31) plays DVD+RW but not DVD-R discs. - A recent Samsung DVD-ROM drive (SD-616E) doesn't play either type. - An older Matsushita DVD-ROM drive (SR-8587) doesn't play either type, except that it can play DVD+RW discs with book type set to DVD-ROM.
