NOTE! NOTE! NOTE! NOTE! NOTE! NOTE! NOTE! NOTE! NOTE! NOTE! NOTE! NOTE! Distribution of netperf is migrating to ftp://ftp.netperf.org/ please start using that location. ftp.cup.hp.com will continue to host older versions of netperf source tar files, but new versions will be placed on ftp://ftp.netperf.org/ NOTE! NOTE! NOTE! NOTE! NOTE! NOTE! NOTE! NOTE! NOTE! NOTE! NOTE! NOTE! NOTE! The old README: This is the new, restructured netperf benchmark source and binary heirarchy on ftp.cup.hp.com under dist/networking/benchmarks/netperf. The tar and zip file at the top level will be the source for the most current released version of netperf. The "pocket" zip file is a port of netperf to PocketPC. I've not looked at it myself and am merely passing it along. The archive directory contains the source distributions of past revisions of netperf. The binaries is a sparse heirarchy of pre-compiled versions of netperf and netserver. If you have binaries which are not yet there, please package them up with the makefile and perhaps a short README and deposit the bundle (shar, tar, or zip are fine) under /incoming/netperf on ftp.cup.hp.com. Then send me email. If you do not find a binary in the sparse heirarchy, sending me email is unlikely to uncover one. You are better-off asking in netperf-talk or in one of the netnews/usenet groups such as comp.benchmarks, comp.protocols.tcp-ip, or a group specific to the Operating System of your choice. The experimental directory contains not-yet-released revisions of netperf. You are free to experiment with these, and I would very much like your feedback. It might be best to only use "released" versions for submission to the netperf database. But then, for the time being the netperf database is rather, well, old and creaky. The netperf homepage and database can be found via: http://www.netperf.org/ happy benchmarking, rick jones
